What is the loch ness monster?

The loch Ness Monster, what is it? Lets go back in time to find our where it all started, back in Scotland there were a tribe of Picts that were covered in tattoos as the word Pict means painted people. This tribe built stones near the loch ness, and they were covered in carvings. All of the carvings were of animals that were recognised all except one. This one >>>>

As you can see it doesn’t look like any animal. This weird animal has a beak or muzzle, a locket or spout on its head and flippers instead of feet. Could this be the loch ness monster? Well this carving is the first evidence of that the loch ness monster may exist. A biography of Saint Columba has the first written evidence of the loch ness monster. In this book it says that St Columba was on his way to visit the Pictish King when he saw a man swimming in the loch ness about to be attacked by a large beast from the water. Could this possibly be the loch ness monster? Well the word soon got out about this “monster” in loch ness and the Daily Mail soon got all the headlines.

As well as the papers the public got interested. This mysterious monster in the lake got so big that a British Circus was willing to pay £20,000 ($59,977.05) for the capture of it. Loads of fishermen, farmers and the locals set off in boats to find this monster, whilst others sat at the waters edge waiting to see this Monster. One of the most excited person was Marmaduke Wetherell>>>>> Marmaduke was a film director and game hunter who was hired by the daily mail (a newspaper company) to find the loch ness monster. After only a few days Wetherell founds some footprints in the ground they were 20 feet long (6 meters). He quickly made plaster casts and sent them to the Natural History Museum in London. This new discovery made more hunters eager to find this mysterious beast came to the loch ness and the lake soon got very popular the hotels had “No Vacancy” and there were traffic jams in both directions. Then in January the results were back from the Museum and they were very disappointing. It turned out that they so called “loch ness footprint” was actually a stuffed hippo’s foot printed into the mud. Could this be the end of the mystery of the loch ness monster?

Though the hoaxes of the footprint, there have still been sightings of the loch ness monster. Most of these descriptions say of a large creature with a long neck and humps coming out of the water. Others say of a creature with flippers. Then they started expeditions to find this monster. In one of the expeditions they used sonar (technology that uses sound the search water). They found in these expeditions that the sonar’s detected a large moving object that doesn’t have a scientific reason for. Here is the sonar picture. >>>> Finding this they decided to set a trap for the loch ness monster. The trap they were going to use was called side scan sonar, as they would scan from shore to shore of the lake using sonar. They put cameras in the water that took pictures every 45 seconds. And in 1975 the sonar again picked up a large moving creature with flippers. This was a giant leap towards the mystery of the loch ness monster.

A man called Sir Peter Scott said that this creature with flippers was a plesiosaur which is a dinosaur that was thought to be extinct 65 million years ago. But this idea was not accounted for by zoologists because it was ridiculous that a dinosaur could be alive. But loch ness (the lake) never freezes or gets very warm so if the dinosaurs died of the ice age this lake could of saved this monster. So now we can say that the loch ness monster is a large reptile like beast with flippers and a long neck.

But in many pictures of the loch ness monster are fakes or normal objects or animals. The most convincing picture of the loch ness monster is the surgeon’s picture shown here.

But this could have been a toy submarine, an elephant, a manatee even a giant squid proboscis were one of the possible explanations. Of coarse these may sound far-fetched but even scientist wonder what loch ness could be.

So any picture of the loch ness monster could be a fake or mistaken for something else like a log. But this doesn’t mean there isn’t a monster in loch ness. Many adventures and monster hunters set off to find this beast but for now the mystery of the loch ness monster is unsolved.

Montauk Monster

An entire story was unleashed in East Hampton, New York, when a local estate agent, Eric Olsen, found on the beach the body of an unknown animal. Amazed by his discovery, he took it and deposited in the garden of a friend. His Friend was an artist and he wanted to use the bones in his works. But, in a very short time after he found it, the body disappeared miraculously, without a trace and no one seems to know anything about him. Olsen believes that it was stolen from him, but some pictures of weird creature that American press called " Montauk Monster ", were made before its disappearance. Many theories revolved around the monster of Montauk, but no one can verify them in the absence of the body, leaving the American media in the middle of a swirl of questions and theories.

Some think that it was a raccoon, while others think it was a dog trained for fighting that was sacrificed, probably after he lost a fight.

An assumption that was brought in the attention is that the "monster" would come from a government laboratory that tests animals, found close to Long Island and that is the result of failure experiments. Representatives of the laboratory invalidated this, but this assumption, saying that they have no connection with the "creature" brought waves in Montauk. Scientists have disputed the existence of such creatures, and "parts" that the hypothesis could be any animal mutilated.

Montauk is a small town on the south shore of Long Island with a population of approximately 4,000 inhabitants. Story of the monster was heard around the world thanks to photographs taken by locals. Some believe that the photos were a plot to attract attention to the small town.

So what do you think it is ... ? it is a dog ? it is a reccoon ? or it is just our imagination .. ?? One thing is for sure ... it looks strange .

Legendary Beasts – The Yeti

The mountain men give this strange man-like creature, which leaves footprints too large to belong to any human, many names.

In the Himalayas, they call it the Yeti, but in the rest of Asia it is known as the Shookpa, Kang-Mi, Mi-go, or Meti. In the Canadian Rocky foothills it is the Sasquatch and in the American north-west remote woodlands, it goes by the name of Bigfoot.

Now in more recent times the creature has managed to acquire the more affectionate name of the Abominable Snowman.

The Legend

Whatever the name, this legendary beast has captured the imagination of hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world and continues to fascinate new generations with the many sightings that are constantly being reported.

The legend states that this creature is shabby, hairy and ape-like in its appearance, walks upright on two legs with a height of about ten foot and weighs about 300 pounds.

It lives in isolated areas where it has been known to terrorise many of the communities that also habitat the same areas.

The Stories

In California, one late night, a young couple were being romantic in their parked car; close by to a large wooded area, when they heard a strange, eerie cry coming from the woods.

Suddenly a face appeared at their car window that was not human; it had big round eyes and an ape-like head, with a body that was covered in mud matted hair.

The girl screamed and the creature ran away, but early the next morning the creature was seen again by a farmer who was tending his cattle and this time it stood still and stared at the man for a few minutes, before it ran off into a dense wooded area.

Many searches were conducted but all that was found was the signs of crushed grass and broken tree branches.

Another well reported sighting was of a shabby half ape, half man like creature that walked upright across a large river and then proceeded over the land area without stopping, but it was continually watching the many people that were standing witnessing its progress.

Sceptics

Many sceptics have expressed their theories on the countless number of sightings and reported ‘evidence’ that has been found.

They have said that the reason for so many sightings of the Yeti is just because the air is so rarefied at such high attitudes that it can cause hallucinations for the people who are not used to it.

And the finding of teeth, hair and bones has been attributed to other animals that reside in the mountainous and wooded areas, such as foxes, wolves, bears, mountain lions and snow leopards.

They believe that the footprints that are found are made not by the Yeti, or Bigfoot, but by local inhabitants who wish to continue the legend, so that they will increase the number of people who come looking for the creature and will spend lots of money in the process.

Nobody has even been able to capture a Yeti, but with all the sightings and clues that are accumulating every year, it surely cannot hide forever and man’s curiosity for strange and unknown things is endless.

Meet Barry the 4-foot newly discovered sea worm. This is a new species and apparently it eats rocks and metal. Just another newly discovered species to shove in the face of all the nonbelievers that claim monsters would've been found by now.

The Jersey Devil

IN 1927, a cab driver on his way to Salem got a flat tire. He stopped to fix the tire. As he was doing this, creature that stood upright and was covered with hair, landed on the roof of his cab. The creature shook his car violently. He fled the scene, leaving the tire and jack behind. Phillip Smith, who was known as a sober and honest man, saw the devil walking down the street in 1953. The characteristic screams of the Jersey Devil were heard in the woods near Woodstown, NJ, in 1936.

Around 1961, 2 couples were parked in a car in the Pine Barrens. They heard a loud screeching noise outside. Suddenly the roof of the car was smashed in. They fled the scene, but returned later. Again they heard the loud screech. They saw a creature flying along the trees, taking out huge chinks of bark as it went along.

There have been other sightings since 1909, such as the Invasion of Gibbsboro in 1951. The people there saw the devil over a 2 day period. In 1966, a farm was raided and 31 ducks, 3 geese, 4 cats, and 2 dogs were killed. One of the dogs was a large german Shepard which had it's throat ripped out. In 1981, a young couple spotted the devil at Atsion Lake in Atlantic County.

In 1987, in Vineland an aggressive german Shepard was found torn apart and the body gnawed upon. the body was located 25 feet from the chain which had been hooked to him. Around the body were strange tracks that no one could identify.

The sightings and prints are the most substantial evidence that exists. Many of the theories on the Jersey Devil are based upon that evidence. Some theories can be proven invalid, while others seem to provide support for the Jersey Devil's existence.

One theory is that the Jersey Devil is a bird. Mrs. Cassidy of Clayton thought it was an invasion of scrowfoot ducks. The scrowfoot duck is much too small to be mistaken for the devil. Others believe the devil is really a sand hill crane. The crane used to live in South Jersey until it was pushed out by man. The sand hill crane weighs about 12 lbs., is 4 foot high, and a wingspan of 80 inches. It avoids man but if confronted it will fight. It has a loud scream whooping voice that can be heard at a distance. This could account for the screams heard by witnesses. The crane also eats potatoes and corn. This could account for the raids on crops. This theory doesn't explain , however, the killing of live stock. It also doesn't explain why people described the devil as having a horses head, bat wings and tail, all of which the crane doesn't have.

Professor Bralhopf said that" the tracks were made by some prehistoric animal form the Jurassic period"5. He believes the creature survived underground in a cavern. An expert from the Smithsonian Institute had a theory about ancient creatures surviving underground. He said the Jersey Devil was a Pterodactyl. The Academy of Natural Sciences could find no record of any creature, living or extinct, that resembles the Jersey Devil.

Jack E. Boucher, author of Absagami Yesteryear, has a theory in which he believes the devil was a deformed child. He thinks Mrs. Leeds had a disfigured child and kept it locked away in the house. She grew sick and couldn't feed the child anymore. It escaped out of hunger and raided local farms for food. This doesn't take into account the incredible life span of the devil. The child would have been 174 years old in 1909. It also doesn't account for the sightings of the devil flying.

Only a small amount of the sightings and footprints could be hoaxes. The Jersey Devil has been seen by reliable people such as police, government officials, postmasters, businessman, and other people whose "integrity is beyond question."6 As for the hoof prints, even if some were hoaxes, There is still no way to explain most of the tracks, especially the ones on roof tops and tracks that ended abruptly as if the creature took wing.

The last theory is the most controversial one. Many people believe that the Jersey Devil could be the very essence of evil, embodied. It is said that the devil is an "uncanny harbinger of war"7. and appears before any great conflict. The jersey devil was sighted before the start of the Civil War. It was also seen right before the Spanish American War and WW I. In 1939, before the start of WW II, Mount Holly citizens were awakened by the noise of hooves on their roof tops. The Devil was seen on December 7, 1941, right before Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was also seen right before the vietnam War.

I give you the legendary Kraken. The Kraken was an extremely giant squid that supposedly was large enough to break ships in half sending them to the bottom of the sea. This creature holds some merit considering that there are giant squid in the ocean that live at the deepest depths of the sea making the hard to document. The Kraken has been featured on movies such as The Clash of the Titans and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Why are UFO Sightings Mocked?

If you have even heard anyone discuss the issue of UFOs then you know that it is often met with a great deal of skeptics and people wanting to mock the subject. However when you look at the numbers of UFO sightings is it really that far fetched to at least be open to the notion? Almost

Predator X: One Beastly Predator

OSLO (March 17) - A giant fossil sea monster found in the Arctic and known as "Predator X" had a bite that would make T-Rex look feeble, scientists said on Monday.

On Monday, scientists said the fossil remains of a humongous sea monster dubbed "Predator X" indicated that it had a bite "much more powerful than T-Rex." Here, an illustration depicts the Jurassic-era reptile chomping on another creature.

The 50 ft long Jurassic era marine reptile had a crushing 33,000 lbs per square inch bite force, the Natural History Museum of Oslo University said of the new find on the Norwegian Arctic archipelago of Svalbard.

"With a skull that's more than 10 feet long you'd expect the bite to be powerful but this is off the scale," said Joern Hurum, an associate professor of vertebrate paleontology at the museum who led the international excavation in 2008.

"It's much more powerful than T-Rex," he said of the pliosaur reptile that would have been a top marine predator. Tyrannosaurus Rex was a top land carnivore among dinosaurs.

Rare Reptile Found for First Time in 200 Years

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - A hatchling of a rare reptile with lineage dating back to the dinosaur age has been found in the wild on the New Zealand mainland for the first time in about 200 years, a wildlife official said Thursday.

The baby tuatara was discovered by staff during routine maintenance work at the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary in the capital, Wellington, conservation manager Raewyn Empson said.

"We are all absolutely thrilled with this discovery," Empson said. "It means we have successfully re-established a breeding population back on the mainland, which is a massive breakthrough for New Zealand conservation."
